I usually post something to my instagram everyday. I get a little frustrated by people who flood my feed, so I try not to do more than just one image. But that leaves me with many compulsive iPhone snapshots of all the things I’m doing from week to week. In an effort to be better at sharing them, I hereby give you my weekly snapshot diary. Usually this will appear on Saturday or Sunday, but I felt like I was hit by a truck yesterday, so that clearly didn’t happen. The layout was inspired by Nicole Franzen, though the contents of my Polaroids are seriously inferior. Some highlights from the pictures above:
Tuesday – Of the 5 dishes I cooked for my client this week, 3 out of 5 were pastas. Naturally, I had to taste test #glutenbelly #pastaorgy. I also dropped some beetz. I went straight from work to meet my friend Debbie Phillips who organized a great group of women to attend the Makers talk with Gloria Steinem at the 92st Y. More on this here.
Wednesday – My friend Joanie was in town from Cali. She works in wine, so I was forced to indulge in a late lunch at Tertulia, complete with pimenton deviled eggs with anchovies and a few glasses of red. Needless to say, there’s not much else to report from Wednesday.
Thursday – I was knee deep in a recipe development project for one of the big food magazines (!!) which included some gratins – a semi sweet potato mash with smoked gouda, and a version of my deconstructed eggplant parm. #pastaorgy2.0.
Friday – 10 friends (some new, some I met for the first time in my foyer), came over for a pre-birthday party pregame and helped me consume the dishes from Thursday. The semi sweet potatoes were everyones fave. There were shots of Fireball (cinnamon whiskey) #gag. And my counter-top became a #saladbar.
Saturday – My friend Keith came over to help me install my new urbio wall garden. I’ve yet to plant anything, but no doubt you’ll be getting plenty snapshots of that process next week. Afterwards we went for a run and dropped in at Gagosian gallery in Chelsea to check out the new Basquiat exhibit. The canvas with “onion gum makes your mouth taste like onions” was my favorite.
