I can’t believe the Chef Race: UK vs. US 2-hour season premiere is only hours away! The heart palpitations have begun, so I’m going to spend my day in the kitchen distracting myself. I’m making chili and cornbread for my real life team of friends, who are going to be feeding me alcohol and providing other types of moral support in spades as tonight’s show hits the small screen.
Since I can’t fit all of you into my small studio apartment to watch with me, I’ve put together this virtual viewing party potluck with lots of fabulous bloggers from around the web who shared their favorite American dishes below. Included are my television teammates, who I’ve been introducing you to this past week.
As we learned from our crazy travels across the country, American cuisine can be just about anything. Fried Twinkies anyone? That said, you might notice some themes below. Mac and Cheese. Apple-inspired desserts. And I’m as guilty as anyone. Yesterday, I featured the Kitchen Sink Mac n’ Cheese recipe that I made on day 2 of filming. It didn’t make the final cut, unfortunately, but you guys can enjoy it anyway.
I have a feeling that won’t be the only thing missing from week to week. So I hope you’ll tune-in and follow along on Feed Me Phoebe as I post behind-the-scenes pictures and give you the scoop on what really happened. Check-in every Thursday (I’ll need 24 hours to recover first) for my Chef Race re-writes.
Don’t forget to comment below to win a fabulous bundle of red, white, and blue themed prizes – I’ll be announcing the winner Thursday on the blog, along with my first post-show extended rant.
A huge thank you to all the bloggers who helped cheer on Team America (and me!) with their delicious dishes.
See you later tonight, in your living room!
xo

Of course I love the all-American pasta I brought to the virtual viewing party, but I think New England clam chowder is my favorite, quintessentially American dish.
What an amazing plethora of great food! I guess Americans love their cheese! If I wasn’t going to choose grilled cheese, I would definitely say mac n cheese is my next favorite American dish. I also tweeted about your sweet giveaway!
The Cheeseburger…always the cheeseburger. 🙂
My favorite “all-American” dish is hotdogs! I could eat a billion of them. And thanks for hosting such a great giveaway!
can’t go wrong with a hot dog! especially here in NYC
Apple Pie. You can’t forget the apple pie.
Can’t wait to watch this show! Will have to find a way 🙂 thanks for the giveaway!
I’ll have to go with an all American hot dog, grilled and topped with ketchup. Serve with a side of chips and a dill pickle!
OK…isn’t the saying ‘As American as Apple Pie?’ OK so I nixed the crust and did an apple crisp…hey, it’s got booze; that’s American!
Now given more time I would have done ribs, my favorite Cherry Chipotle Ribs with a spicy poblano pepper mac and cheese; that’s American in Colorado for sure! 🙂
Go Team!!
i was definitely surprised by all the tex mex in colorado – who knew! not me 🙂
vanilla oreo blizzard from good ole DQ – that or a Carvel ice cream cake with the layer of chocolate “crunchies” – both very American and remind me of childhood
haha i love blizzards and DQ! for some reason it was the only fast food my mom let me have.
My favorite American dish is definitely mac & cheese! Or anything pumpkin – I’m always hearing that people outside American are perplexed by American’s love of pumpkin desserts, so I guess it’s a US thing!
girl after my own heart!
My favorite All-American dish is corn on the cob!
totally. with lots of butter. mmm.
This is so exciting, Phoebe! My favorite all-American dish? Well that might just have to be the apple crumble I brought to the party. 😉 Seriously though, your mac and cheese looks divine! Oh how I miss my ewy gewy cheese.
Thank you for being such a lovely host. xoxo

Can’t go wrong with the grilled cheese, corn on the cob and apple pie, but I’ll say rhubarb crisp. Thanks for the giveaway!
Mac and cheese! I could eat that all day. =)
And I tweeted the giveaway!
well glad i could meet the mark!
Baked beans! With real maple syrup and ham (or bacon)! 🙂
I was going to say apple pie, but that seems to be so normal for everyone… A close second is awesome steamed littleneck clams and the accompanying fresh grilled corn on teh cob. Yum!
mmm new england all-american!
The hamburger. With its infinite topping options, it can be enjoyed by the most fickle of eaters to the gourmet flame breathers.
