In celebration of this week’s big Feed Me Phoebe birthday, I wanted to make sure to give back to all of you readers.
As you know, I rarely do giveaways on this site. But I’m always excited to share my favorites with you. And anyone who’s tuned into them knows that Le Creuset is top of my list.
I’ve done a few breakfast-related favorites lists – this one on getting toasty, and this one on tea time – so I’m thrilled to bring you a fabulous bundle of Soleil items from Le Creuset along with my favorite jams.
Thank you for helping me celebrate! Read on to enter, and I’ll announce the winner next week.
xo

Comfort food is a nice thing to think about today, when most of us are craving a comfort from bad news around the country. One thing my husband used to love was eclairs — I’d love to find a way to make them without traditional flour. : )
You’re so right Shanna. Must be why I had a comforting stew last night.
Would love to figure out a gluten-free recipe for eclairs. Wish I was more of a baker! But will work on it 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, and going to have to order your ebook – it looks right up my alley! xo
Macaroni and cheese. Yum. 🙂
There’s a gluten-free version here if you’re looking to lighten it up that way 🙂
Lemon bars!
Macaroni and cheese, or lasagna. Anything with cheese is comforting.
I’ve got a great spring lasagna coming your way, gurl 🙂 testing out them GF noodles.
Mac and cheese or better yet, pierogi!
Never tried making pierogi! I saw a GF brand though at Wholefoods that I’ve been wanting to sample. Perhaps will steal some inspiration from there 🙂
cream soups as hard to make comfort you when you make them too healthy
That’s a great one Chris! Thanks for sharing!

Anything with salt or cheese. Big burgers with all the toppings??
I’m gluten intolerant and all of my more favoritest food are not only inherently artery-clogging-sink-traps but also chock full of the glutens. Our family survived on takeout growing up, and the most celebratory of all takeouts: Chinese food. Many good memories in our family history are marked by spare ribs, beef-and-broccoli, moo shu duck, and beyond. I mean — what American Jew doesn’t think of chicken chow mein as the iconic Christmas dinner dish?
Phoebe – will you make me some Chinese (American) comfort food? If there’s a healthy, gluten-free dumpling or chow mein out there, I’ll eat it!
(ps I’ve found one woman in California who makes delicious gluten-free dim sum at my family’s local farmer’s markets. She’s the only one in the nation that I’ve seen do this! True magic/heart-filling/belly-quelling.
http://www.trugourmet.com/ )
I’d be happy to come to your rescue Stefanie! A lot of those dishes can be easily made GF just by replacing soy sauce with GF tamari. I loooove moo shu. Perhaps you can eat it with a corn tortilla instead?! Or a lettuce wrap? I’ll work on it.
Wanted to pass along this brand I found that makes GF dumplings and egg rolls. Haven’t tried it yet, so if you do, please report back!

I love that happy yellow color, and all this talk of comfort food to go along with it. 🙂 I’m a Tex-Mex freak, and would love to see some GF/lightened-up recipes! Top of my list would be enchiladas!
totally got you covered! Have a spring-y taco coming up in the next few weeks and enchiladas on the back-burner.
Cuban ropa vieja with fried plantains.
I just made fried plantains for the first time! They were awesome. Maybe there can be a baked alternative?
I have done baked plantain chips, but it’s hard to recreate the thicker smashed chunks in the oven. There have been quasi-healthier versions from my kitchen that are merely sauteed instead of deep-fried. Equally as delicious, but I know they can be better… my quest continues. As a Registered Dietitian, I must succeed!
Grilled cheese! Definitely grilled cheese. And peanut butter squares – Do those count as comfort food?? Yum.
Chocolate chip scones! Or Doughnuts. Who doesn’t love doughnuts.
With my Texas roots it’s all about BBQ and Mexican food. Wishing there was a way to do healthier brisket, fried okra, sweet potatoes… Also chicken enchiladas (although the cheese topping is the best part!)

Got you covered on the enchilada front! Have been on the to-do list for a long time. Maybe just a little queso fresco on top 🙂
My boyfriend would love a healthy version of butter chicken. Possibilities for Indian comfort food??
@schwink on twitter. i was going to say mac and cheese, but i kind of like to keep that as an indulgence. how about pizza?
Chicken pot pie is my all time favorite winter comfort food, but I rarely make it because it’s such a calorie bomb!

I LIVE FOR UNHEALTHY COMFORT FOODS – but some of my favs are:
Grits, Mac and cheese, eggplant parm, I could go on….. Making me hungry as I type! Xx
Macaroni and cheese. And ginormous burritos. 😀

Congrats on the anniversary! I was really sad when you and Cara “broke up”, but I am so happy that you have built this site up – it’s beautiful!
I love eggplant parmesan, but don’t really know how to make non-mushy eggplant. So I continue to order the ridiculously unhealthy version anytime we eat at an Italian restaurant. Please help me!
Thank you Florence! It was definitely sad for everyone involved. But I’m very grateful you’ve continued to follow me. Thank you for the kind words.
This is an oldie from the BGSK days – and SUCH a goodie. I just re-tested a new version that will be up on Food & Wine soon. I will let you know when the new and improved version is live! https://feedmephoebe.com/2012/01/deconstructed-eggplant-parmesan-rigatoni/
Happy blog bday!! I’d love a healthier version of any cream pasta sauces and to Shepard’s Pie!
mmm my favorites too! I’m not sure how much healthier this one is, but here’s Shepherds! you could use chicken or turkey instead of beef and sweet potatoes instead of regular to make it even healthier! https://feedmephoebe.com/2012/04/feeding-friends-my-moms-shepards-pie/
Mexican food like enchiladas..yum. Thank you!! [email protected]

Brownies or cookies 😀
I’d love to see a lightened-up gluten-free macaroni and cheese recipe — with lots of veggies!
-Emily K.
Need to work on the veggie part. But here’s the GF covered! https://feedmephoebe.com/2012/10/gluten-free-is-me-kitchen-sink-mac-n-cheese-a-sneak-peek-of-episode-1/
I’d love to find a recipe for banana bread that’s not basically dessert.
I would love a healthier version of biscuits and sausage gravy. Being from the south-ish it’s totally a comfort food favorite that is soooooo terrible for you 🙂 I bet there is a great way to make it GF too so even my step-mom can enjoy it!
I will totally work on that! I actually almost tested out a rice-based shortcake recipe that I feel like is in the ball park of biscuits. You can make them savory or sweet. Will keep you posted! xo
Happy 1 year Blogiversary! I’d love to see caesar salad dressed made healthier. While I love making it for a special weekend dinner, I wish there wasn’t quite so much oil and cheese it in.
You MUST try my kale version! The dressing is roasted garlic vinaigrette – no egg, and you can definitely cut down on the cheese even more. It’s SO good.

Happy birthday blog!
Obviously Mac n cheese or anything with carbs. Any healthy alternatives for mashed potatoes? Something with that gooey consistency…
Mashed potatoes, I trued to lighten them up with yogurt but nobody around here would eat that besides me. I do use a butter/olive oil mixture in them, ::still:: what other options do I have?
My mom always thins hers with just stock. It’s all about the texture. Then I add a tablespoon or so of olive oil to add that richness. you could also try earth balance? It tastes like butter. maybe see if they notice the difference!
Stock! yes! You know I had read that and just totally forgotten it. I made them last night again with the durn cow milk (which I hate) and my husband would eat them every single day if I allowed it. I bet he would have no idea if I tried stock.
report back!!
I love the healthier soup recipes! [email protected]

Biscuits or cesear salad dressing – although the dressing version you posted already was delicious!
Shortbread cookies or brownies to go with a cup of tea.
My comfort food is tiramisu. Wish there was a healthier version.
I feel like this is an interesting challenge!! Stay tuned 🙂 Maybe some sort of pudding with the flavorings but not necessarily the marscapone?
I tweeted about the giveaway!

Mac n’ cheese and french fries!!
I desperately want a healthy and tasty mac and cheese recipe. Most of the time they’re too creamy!
Any variety of baked pasta is what I crave when looking for comforting food. Would love to see a healthier version! Thank you!
I’d love to see healthy doughnuts. Love this things but the trip to Doughnut Plant is definitely a guilty pleasure.
(Tweeted: https://twitter.com/TriCoachEamon/status/326070910660538368)
I live very very dangerously close to Doughnut Plant. EEK!
Potatoes. In any form.
I’m a huge comfort food fan. Pasta carbonara. Fried eggs on toast. Steak frites. Brownies. Cakes. But all are full of gluten =( I’ve yet to come across one of those Levain-worthy, crisp edged, molten middle, salty-sweet concoctions — SANS WHEAT. The challenge is yours, lady!
Tweeted too : https://twitter.com/earthlyepicure/status/326091760189202433
ugh! It’s hard enough to recreate Levain WITH the gluten! I’ll add to the list…but I’m skeptical. xxx
Buttermilk biscuits & gravy.
Turkey chili!
Pad thai. Nothing like some take-out pad thai. Would love to know how to make it / a healthy option!
Miss Al! I got you covered, gurl. You can find brown rice noodles at whole roods now! You can skip the sugar and egg if you want to make it really healthy. But this version has so much less than they serve at restaurants. xxx
https://feedmephoebe.com/2012/01/vegetable-pad-thai/
Carrot Cake with less sugar than carrots for once would be amazing!
I would like to see a healthy and low on calories chicken pot pie recipe
Southern Style Breakfast! Fried egg, bacon &/or sausage (or both!), biscuits with honey and jelly, gravy, grits with cheddar cheese. Mmmmmm 🙂
Tall order!! Wish there was a way to make bacon healthier 🙂 Will have to give the grits a go though! xo
Shared this giveaway on twitter https://twitter.com/neiddy_ruiz/status/326308952956608513
I love vanilla slice! A healthier version would be divine!
Cinnamon rolls are my favorite! but they seem impossible to make healthy. Maybe with less-processed ingredients? like coconut oil or something. ^_^” wish I knew more about substituting ingredients in baking.
Enchiladas! But my favorite part is all the cheese, so I’m not sure I would enjoy it as much with less cheese…worth a shot though!
I’d love to see loaded mashed potato casserole healthified…if at all possible! 🙂
I tweeted haha! And the link is below:

Any kind of lasagne is my go to comfort food!
My favorite comfort food is Cincinnati chili – meat pasta and cheese – yummy but not healthy

I’d love a lighter version of risotto, if there’s a way to do it!
I’d love to see a healthier (but still tasty!) version of chocolate chip cookies!

Since moving to Texas, these have been my favorite dishes and I would love to see healthier versions of them.
Sweet recipe = bread pudding
Savory recipe = queso
Also tweeted. Congratulations on the success of your blog!
Hey Phoebe! Congrats what an inspiration! I would love to challenge you for healthy s’mores- inspired by summers at CCC. Though seriously my Boyfriend is a huge Chicken Parmesan fan and I would love to provide a healthy option that fools him so he doesn’t know it’s a healthy alternative.
Chicken Pot Pie! It’s my fiancee’s favorite, and I never make it for him because it’s so calorie-laden. Would love a lightened-up recipe I can make that will rival my future mother-in-law’s!
Mac & cheese, spinach artichoke dip, fudgy brownie pie….basically anything sweet!
One of my favorite comfort-food meals is meatloaf with mashed potatoes. I’ve already made the meatloaf “lighter” by using lean ground turkey, and I can leave the sour cream out of the potatoes, but I’m open to suggestions. Thanks!
And happy Blogiversary!

My favorite comfort food is either ice cream when I need something sweet or anything with cheese… right now I’ve been really into baking pasta with some kind of cheese and veggie in single serving ramekins.
My favorite comfort food is my mom’s cinnamon rolls which is a holiday tradition
