This week involved more eating than usual. Which is hard. My weekly client was out of town on vacation, so I took the opportunity to treat myself (and my friends) a little better with various #feelgoodfood. I got intimate with some artichokes, and served them to my friend Lydia for dinner on Monday.
I had some more recipe testing to do on Tuesday for a magazine project, which meant a surplus of spicy carrot-leek quesadillas for my lunches throughout the week. I also experimented with a Mediterranean millet salad with some goodies from the Whole Foods antipasti bar.
Wednesday, my friend Caroline and I went to check out Gabe Stulman’s newest in Chelsea. Her company was paying, so naturally, she ordered the lobster entree. When it arrived, I had serious order envy. There was no bib offered, so she went ahead and made one. That’s my gal. The cassava chips with eggplant caponata and cashew sauce was my highlight. Definitely worth a trip to Monmartre just for that.
Thursday kicked off March Madness. I don’t normally watch sports, but I am closetly uber competitive, so I’ve been wasting a lot of time refreshing my bracket page. I’ve found over the years, that the less you know, the bigger your chances of winning. So that means, yet again, I’m in excellent shape in my pool. It also means that I’ve consumed way more alcohol than usual in a given week.
Saturday my high school friends got together for one of our quarterly potlucks. I wanted to test out how long summer rolls could last pre-rolled for an upcoming catering event that I’m partnering with Theory for (hello, discount. eeeeeee). I was pleasantly surprised by how well they held up, even if they were a pain in the ass to make. Unfortunately, I think those who inhaled them within the first 5 minutes made the conclusion clear. Looks like I’ll be spending 24 hours rolling summer rolls.
Best of all, I finally planted my Urbio garden!! Succulents, bamboo, and orchids galore.
I hope your week was as full of deliciousness, friends, and madness as mine. Let me know your highlights in the comments!

Now, I love me some spring rolls as much as the next girl, but maybe a buffet-style build-your-own spring roll salad would be easier? Heidi at 101 Cookbooks has some great options, but obviously, you can pretty much add whatever you’d like!
yes! I love her winter greens ones.
I think I am going to do it and roll them the day of. Once I got going, it wasn’t so bad. I love me a one-person assembly line!

Artichokes looked good. What’s the recipe?
