Perhaps it’s the 13-year-old Cosmo reader in me, but I love a good personality quiz. I’ve spent hours talking with my girlfriends about my results of this love language assessment, as well as guessing and analyzing the results of every single person I’ve ever dated. Then there was the more highbrow enneagram test, the results of which I found so poignant, I printed out the five page report to give to my therapist. So when Traditional Medicinals sent me their new plant personality test to try my hand at, I was excited to see if the teas I’d been enjoying for years were compatible with my inner herb nerd.
I grew up in a household that had a whole cabinet dedicated to tea, including Traditional Medicinals’ entire oeuvre. My favorite has always been Throat Coat with the addition of a touch of honey and a squeeze of lemon. It still reminds me of childhood and there’s nothing in the world I find more soothing, even when I’m in perfect health. That said, I never once looked on the back of the box to see what plants made up the magic sachet. So unlike some quizzes, like this BuzzFeed 90’s teen icon test where you can easily manipulate the answers to get the results to say Cher instead of Daria or Laney Boggs, I just had to hope my plant personality would be everything my ego and taste buds hoped it would be. And here’s what I got…
As it turns out, I’ve been coating my throat for a reason. I’m a mixture of scrappy Dandelion and the uber-vocal Slippery Elm, which just so happens to be the key ingredient in Throat Coat tea. But who knew given my coloring, I was SUCH a Ginger?
Here’s the description of that side of my personality:
Spirited. A feisty and fiery companion, quick with an opinion, a laugh or an idea. Warm, friendly and inviting, you never allow an awkward moment to pass. In fact, even cold and distant people warm up to you more quickly than others. Negative experiences or too much indulgence, however, can send you into a bit of a tailspin, and when hurt you may become quite cold and distant. Ginger people do best when their natural warmth and affection is flowing freely, giving them easy access to their love of life.
Someone get me a cup of Throat Coat tea, cuz I just got chills!
If you’re as big of a quiz enthusiast as I am, I hope you’ll hop on over to take the plant personality test. Comment below with your results and you could win a set of teas that will soothe your inner herb nerd too!

Fennel, Nettle, and Passion Flower. I love fennel and nettle, but I’ve never tried the passion flower!
Dandelion, Ginger, Peppermint. I found this quiz to be freakishly perceptive, which I DIG.
I know, right?! Glad you are a fellow ginger 🙂
Fennel, Passionflower, Peppermint. Never tried passionflower and looking forward to picking it up next time.
My personality assessment wasn’t that accurate, but the herbs were dead right. Dandelion (my favorite diuretic in summer), Fennel (my go-to for digestion), and Slippery Elm (yup, Throat Coat). Think I’ll make a cup right now.
pretty close to mine 🙂
Dandelion, fennel, peppermint
Camomile, echinasia, and fennel
Chamomile, ginger, peppermint
Ah we got the same coding! Dandelion, Ginger, Slippery Elm – and I as well am a quiz addict! I have yet to try these teas!
herb sisters!! I love it!
I got Fennel Ginger Nettle!
Chamomile, Fennel, Nettle. It’s funny, because I really don’t like the taste of fennel (seeds) but that description was the most accurate of all three.
This was so fun! I’m Echinacea, Fennel and Peppermint! Suites me just right!
yay! glad you liked it!
